CONSERVATIVE MANAGEMENT OF EXTRA DURAL HEMORRHAGE

Background: Extra Dural hematoma (EDH) is a blood clot that develops between the dura mater and skull, found in 2.5% to 5% of head injured patients. Patient with small EDH may be treated conservatively through close observation advised, yet sudden neurological deterioration occur. Objective: To review literature evaluate safety efficacy conservative management extradural trauma patients selected criteria. Patients methods: This was hospital based study which done at Department neurosurgery Al-Azhar University Hospitals Luxor International Hospital during period from September 2017 2019. It conducted on 15 hemorrhage who fulfilling criteria (volume<30ml, thickness8), exclusion needs surgical evacuation, bleeding tendency temporal or occipital hematoma. All cases records were reviewed pertinent data (clinical history, age, sex, mode injury) analyzed. The subjected treatment Neurosurgery ICU admission follow up CT Brain 6 hours, 12 24 hours 48 hour after admission. given Analgesics, Antibiotics Anti epleptics if needed .All stayed for 3 days until they had good conscious level then transferred ward one day discharged home. Final all before discharge ensure resolution hemorrhage. Follow continued month clinic. Results: In our patients, (100%). means increased, mentioned protocol gives successful results EDH. Conclusion: so we can avoid evacuation
